Search youtube for fun, Kindergarten-appropriate "How-to" Videos
In Writing Workshop, my Kindergarteners just started a unit on instructional writing or "how to" books. "How to tie your shoes", "How to cook spaghetti", "How to do a cartwheel", etc. I show a lot of written examples of real "how to" books for the kids to get ideas and also for them to understand the process of breaking instructional writing into clear steps. I also like to show them examples of real "how to" videos. I find the expertvillage and ehow videos on youtube most reliable. I would love someone to search these kinds of videos and set up a channel or post a list of maybe 25 of these videos, short (1-2 minutes), something that would interest a Kindergartener and be appropriate obviously. An engaging presenter with clear and simple written steps supporting the visual is ideal. Of course you're also welcome to post your own such videos and include those in the list. On the list if you think it's necessary you can include a quick sentence explaining each video. Thanks so much!
